Amplitude
A current bass-trap family combining deep broadband absorption with patterned faceplates that scatter upper-frequency energy.
A broad range of home-theatre treatment spanning broadband absorption, deep bass traps, tuned membrane devices and hybrid absorber/diffusers.
The current home-theatre range includes FlexRange and Amplitude panels, soffit and corner bass traps, freestanding devices and Scopus tuned membrane traps. The manufacturer also distinguishes thick low-frequency treatment from thin foam-based treatment.
That aligns well with the design principle of this site: bass control needs physical volume, placement and measurement, not simply more decorative panels.
If GIK products are ever retailed locally, Home Cinema Store should be the commercial destination while this site remains the design resource.
Musician Glenn Kuras founded GIK Acoustics in Atlanta, Georgia in 2004 with the aim of making effective, high-performance treatment more understandable and attainable. GIK Acoustics Europe followed in Bradford, United Kingdom in 2008, adding European manufacturing and support.
The company’s development tracks a shift from conventional broadband panels into deeper low-frequency and hybrid devices. GIK launched its Soffit Bass Trap in 2010, received a US patent covering its two-frame panel and FlexRange technology in 2015, introduced the Alpha Series absorber/diffusers in 2018 and continued with modular Sound Blocks, DDM dual-density construction and the Amplitude range.
Its current model combines made-to-order manufacturing in the United States and Europe with published performance information, educational material and room-design consultation.
GIK is most useful when products are selected by acoustic mechanism and required depth.
Porous absorbers address early reflections and mid/high-frequency decay, with depth and air space influencing their lower-frequency reach.
Soffit, corner and modular traps use substantially more absorber volume where broad low-frequency decay control is required.
Scopus membrane traps target narrower modal regions where a pressure-based device is more appropriate than additional broadband absorption.
Alpha, Impression and Amplitude-style face plates retain and redistribute some upper-frequency energy while absorbing through and around the patterned surface.
The published range makes depth, mounting, scatter plates, range limiting and tuned control easier to discuss than a generic “acoustic panel” category.
Import cost, freight, fire documentation, fabric samples and availability must be checked. A locally fabricated or locally available alternative may be more sensible when it can meet the same performance brief.
GIK has made measurement-aware room treatment approachable through direct guidance, published product information and configurable absorber, bass-trap and hybrid families. Its products are familiar in studios, listening rooms and home cinemas.
The useful differentiator is depth. GIK offers thick broadband devices and tuned options, which is important because meaningful bass control cannot be reduced to a decorative thin panel.
Selected product families are highlighted for their relevance to private cinema—not as a shopping list.
A current bass-trap family combining deep broadband absorption with patterned faceplates that scatter upper-frequency energy.
A tuned membrane device for stubborn low-frequency problems that remain after broadband treatment and positioning work.
Slotted or patterned faceplates combine absorption with scattering and offer a more architectural finish.
Established deep broadband formats for walls and corners where substantial low-frequency absorption is required.
ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN STUDY · NOT MANUFACTURER PHOTOGRAPHYGIK is a strong reference for rooms where deep, effective treatment can remain visible. We would combine broadband depth with tuned devices only after measurements identify a persistent narrow problem.
The governing principle: measurement, modelling and room requirements choose the treatment. The logo never does.
