Acoustic treatment for private cinema
Absorption, diffusion, hybrid treatment and bass control designed around the behaviour of the room rather than generic panel coverage.
Broadband absorption is powerful, but more absorption is not automatically better. A cinema can become spectrally unbalanced or subjectively lifeless if high frequencies are over-treated while low-frequency decay remains uncontrolled.
Diffusion can preserve energy while redistributing it, but it also requires enough distance and the right frequency range to work effectively. Hybrid systems combine these tools where the room benefits from both.
Performance should be built into the architecture.
Acoustic treatment works best when it is coordinated with speaker locations, screen wall design, seating, lighting, HVAC, joinery and service access. The visible finish is the final layer of a much deeper system.
Control high-impact reflection paths that blur imaging and dialogue.
Reduce excessive reverberant energy while preserving spatial life.
Redistribute mid/high-frequency energy where scattering is preferable to absorption.
Use porous, resonant or pressure-based devices where low-frequency problems require physical control.
Treatment is a system of different acoustic behaviours.
Broadband absorption, low-frequency control, diffusion, reflection and hybrid surfaces each have a role. Repeating one panel across every wall usually creates an uneven result.
Start with the target
Define which arrivals or decay regions need control, at which seats and over which frequency range. Product selection follows that question.
Use depth intelligently
Thin treatment manages higher frequencies. Lower-frequency control needs cavity volume, tuned behaviour or large-area pressure-zone placement. Fabric walls and screen-wall voids can hide this depth.
Keep the room balanced
Preserve useful later energy and surround envelopment while controlling damaging early reflections and resonances. Confirm the completed balance with spatial and time-domain measurements.
