FabriTRAK helps explain the method, but it should not be mistaken for the system we routinely expect to supply locally.

FabriTRAK describes more than 50 track profiles with acoustic infill and fabric installed on site. Different profile depths allow the wall build-up to respond to acoustic requirements rather than forcing every treatment zone into the same thickness.

For private cinema, this gives us a useful framework for hiding speakers, absorbers, diffusers and service zones without visually advertising the treatment. For projects in South Africa, a locally available fabric-track system will usually be a more practical specification and supply route.

Important local distinction

Home Cinema Acoustics does not present FabriTRAK as a routinely imported or locally stocked product. Reference coverage does not imply South African representation. See Custom Acoustics Fabric Track for the locally available commercial solution.

RELATED RETAIL DESTINATION

For South African projects, begin with the locally available route.

Home Cinema Store remains the relevant commercial destination where suitable acoustic products are offered, while Home Cinema Acoustics remains independent and specification-led.

THE ORIGINAL TRACK SYSTEM

A method developed in the 1970s became an architectural-acoustics category.

FabriTRAK traces the original system to Floyd Baslow, who developed its fire-retardant 3/8-inch track profiles in the 1970s. The company dates the commercial system to 1977. The profiles were fixed on site so fabric could become a clean architectural finish rather than a conventional upholstered panel.

Lou D’Angelo became involved with the company’s marketing and sales in the late 1990s and purchased it in 1999. Under his leadership, the range expanded beyond the original profile into more thicknesses, edge conditions, ceiling profiles, infill materials and a global licensed-dealer network.

That history is why FabriTRAK is important here: many contemporary stretched-fabric acoustic rooms follow the same basic logic of perimeter track, acoustic infill and a field-applied textile finish.

SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

Track, infill and textile are specified as one finish system.

The profile establishes the edge and depth; the concealed material determines much of the acoustic function.

01FabriTRAK profiles

Rigid track profiles are offered in multiple depths and edge conditions for walls, ceilings, curves, reveals and transitions.

02GeoTRAK

A PVC-free profile family developed for projects prioritising material transparency and environmental certification.

03Acoustic infill

Absorptive TerraCORE Poly and barrier-oriented FabriBLOK illustrate how different concealed layers can serve different acoustic objectives.

04FabriSPAN textiles

Wide and ultra-wide fabrics support large fields, fewer seams and custom-colour or printed architectural surfaces.

WHY DESIGNERS REFERENCE IT

Detail flexibility.

The range demonstrates how fabric walls can turn corners, meet ceilings, form panels and accommodate changing build-up depths without making the treatment visually dominant.

THE SOUTH AFRICAN DISTINCTION

Reference method, local implementation.

FabriTRAK operates through licensed installation channels and is not presented here as our normal South African procurement route. Custom Acoustics Fabric Track remains the practical locally available system to evaluate first.

WHY THIS BRAND MATTERS

The international reference for site-built stretched-fabric acoustic finishes.

FabriTRAK helped establish the architectural category in which track, acoustic infill and textile are fitted on site to form a finished wall or ceiling. The system supports many profile depths, edge details, infills and fabric types.

For a cinema designer, the key idea is flexibility: speaker openings, corners, columns and changing acoustic zones can be resolved behind a coherent textile plane. It remains a reference system here, not the expected local procurement route.

SIGNATURE SOLUTIONS

What is genuinely distinctive

Selected product families are highlighted for their relevance to private cinema—not as a shopping list.

01

FabriTRAK System

A fire-retardant rigid-vinyl track framework offered in numerous profiles and depths for site-built fabric walls and ceilings.

02

GeoTRAK

A PVC-free alternative within the manufacturer’s current acoustic wall-and-ceiling system family.

03

TerraCORE + FabriTACK

Alternative infill types that let the assembled system be designed for different absorption and durability requirements.

04

FabriSPAN + FabriFELT

Wide-width textiles and wool felt options that turn the technical build-up into an architectural finish.

How we would use FabriTRAK

FabriTRAK is valuable as a design benchmark for edge details, depth, fabric handling and on-site customisation. For South African projects, the locally available Custom Acoustics fabric-track route is normally more practical.

The governing principle: measurement, modelling and room requirements choose the treatment. The logo never does.
